Our Mission
Thanks to our generous donors, MC-LEF currently establishes a $35,000 educational account for every child who loses a parent serving in the United States Marine Corps or any Federal Law Enforcement Agency. Since our founding in 1995, MC-LEF has awarded over $90 million in educational accounts and other humanitarian assistance to over 4700 recipients. We have one paid employee in our national office in New York, so the vast majority of our efforts are performed by a dedicated group of volunteers who run our events. All officers and board members are volunteers. Together we are extremely efficient in running our organization so that donor funds are predominantly used to accomplish our mission of Educating the Children of Those Who Sacrificed All.
Meet Kiley
On Dec. 8 of 2016, Captain Jake Frederick, a US Marine and F/A-18 Hornet pilot, was killed after ejecting from his aircraft roughly 120 miles off the coast of Japan. His wife Kiley was nine months pregnant with their second child, a daughter named Mayley, and caring for their 3-year-old son Colt at the time of her his death. Colt and his sister Mayley each received a $30,000 scholarship from MC-LEF foundation in honor of their father Jake. Kiley spoke at the 2018 Semper Fidelis Gala in New York, NY. Her story is just one example of the foundation’s mission to serve the children of our fallen heroes.
